Hello Rock Hounds,

If you were wondering if the field trip is still on for this Saturday, April 10th, the answer is…YES.

Field Trip destination: “Montezuma Peak” is the substitute location for this weekend as arrangements could not be made for the earlier planned Goldfield/Gemfield trip.

Meeting Location: The group will first be meeting in Beatty at the Nut and Candy Store again (09:00). This is a great place to pick up a few tasty treats when you make a restroom stop. The group will follow up and meet at Hwy-95 and 266 (Lida Junction).

Meeting Time: 09:00 (Nut & Candy Store, Beatty, rear parking lot)

Remember: Headlight are required 24/7 on Highway-95 for everyone’s safety. It makes it difficult for others to pass when they can’t see approaching vehicles clearly. Let’s all be safe on our field trips!

Following others to a location: If not done correctly, it can cause a traffic situation that’s not pleasant for other drivers. Driver’s become impatient and try to pass and when vehicles are bunched up too close and it makes it unsafe for everyone. Know your destination, stay spaced out and use your cruise control to keep a steady pace. Speed limit on Hwy-95 is for the most part, 70 mph.

Planning: Driving time to Beatty is approximately 1 ½ hours; 70 miles and an additional 53 miles to Lida Junction. If you have handheld radios, bring them and stay in touch with instructions, etc. Get them charged up and put in your vehicle now so you won’t forget them later.

If you are going on this trip, PLEASE email Bruce Wingate so he will have an idea who to expect. If you sign up and can’t come, please give Bruce a call and let him know so the group is not waiting for you if running a little late. Then again, my saying is “if you can’t be on time, be early”.
