Meeting Notice

Reminder: Is the Rock-N-Gold meeting on your calendar? There will be educational seminars, field trips and lots of good times with our RNG friends.

Date: Monday, November 14th @ 18:00 (6 p.m.) doors open by 5:15. Come early, visit, review the raffle table as we get setup. We can always use an extra hand with setting up for the meeting if you are willing.

Where: Ruud Center on the 2nd Monday of each month.

Name Tags: Your name tag help members put a name with the face; try to remember to wear yours. Another option is to have your name printed on logoed clothing that is available through our 2 vendors.

December’s Meeting in Question: Membership will vote on having a meeting or a Christmas dinner. Please attend meeting to learn about options and share your thoughts.

We need YOU: We need your VOTE at this meeting for the 2023 Board of Directors. Please do your part supporting your Rock-N-Gold Organization by casting your vote! We are all counting on your participation…

Raffle Items: Not necessary but we appreciate donations. If possible, bring something to donate for the Raffle drawing. Raffled items help raise money for the club to do special things for the membership. Doesn’t have to be just rocks…use your imagination.

Speaker: Tom Edwards has a special presentation for us.

Volunteers: We are a volunteer organization (unpaid). Therefore, we need your help in various areas to support the Rock-N-Gold Organization. Please, volunteer just a couple hours of your time each month…that’s all we ask.

Field Trips: Bruce Wingate will discuss field trips being planned; don’t miss this discussion and announcement at the meeting!

Rock Shop: We now have staff to help you! It doesn’t matter if you have lapidary experience or not, we will train you. To schedule, call 24 hours ahead to arrange with volunteer to assist you. No member can be at the shop without a volunteer present. Each user is required to clean up equipment used before leaving.

Membership Dues: Normally paid in March for a year. If you are a NEW member, you can pay your annual dues at this time; correct change is appreciated. If you forget, you can mail in a check for dues ($15 Rock or $36 Claim-full). Your email address will be added for meeting notices, trips, etc, at this point.

Greetings Members,

Wanted to remind you of the upcoming club sponsored outing to the GOLD CLAIM this Saturday, September 10th. If you want to join Larry Tobey, be at the Burger King at 8:45 a.m. and he will lead members to the claim. Weather is forecast to be a high of 85* (welcome relief from heat) and scattered rain showers possible. Wow, wouldn’t a nice rain feel good on the body after our very dry spell.

Also, don’t forget our Monday meeting will held at Valley Conference Center (VEA) on Highway 372 at 18:00 (6 pm).

We have some very serious business to be discussed Monday, so this is a meeting you don’t want to miss! The future direction of the club is going to be front and center and your participation is critical. We are counting on you being there for a membership vote on direction.

OLD NEWS...

May 15, 2021

4 of us arrived at the 40 acre Gold Claim at 09:30 and proceeded to locate and mark the 4 corners via GPS. After a lot of hiking, we zeroed in to the 5th GPS decimal and stuck our white posts. These markers cannot be seen from our parking area. Members should use the map for boundary guidance; an update will be provided soon. The very high wind gusts today made walking on rocky terrain difficult. One person fell with a face cut and me with 3 cactus thorns through the boot sole; ouch!  After one of the quads broke down, it had to be towed off the mountain. Lots of 4 legged friends watching us today.

Please mark your calendars each month for the following events:

 A group outing to the gold claim in the Johnnie area is on the second Saturday of each month, except during June, July, and August.

Our monthly meeting is held the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM in the Bob Ruud Community Center, 150 Hwy. 160 at the intersection of Basin Ave. (left at the third stop light coming from Las Vegas).

Annual dues for membership in the new organization are $36.00 for a household membership which includes access to the placer gold mining claim in Johnnie, access to the club-owned gold prospecting and processing equipment, access to the Rock Shop and all rock trips. Members who do not want access to the claim or gold prospecting and processing equipment, but only to the Rock Shop and trips, pay $10.00 for an individual or $15.00 for a household membership annually. Dues are collected in January of each year.

Please bring to the meeting any suggestions you may have as to where you would like to go or do for a group outing. We are open to all suggestions.
